FOREX MARKET
On Friday, the EUR/USD fell again eroding the 1.1930 support level in late forex trade. From a technical point
of view, although there were multiple changes of direction lately, it is more likely that in the coming days, the
USD will approach the strong support level set at 1.1870, and even go lower, as euros latest rally lacked
strength. To the upside, 1.1960/80 is the first resistance area, and the upside reversal comes in at 1.2050.
At the end of the past week, the domestic forex market was rather stable around the 3.6050 level with low
variations, as the exchange rate went as high as 3.6140. On Monday, the market opened at 3.6040 and soon the
rate climbed until 3.6060. Then, around noon the pair fell to 3.6000 and it seems that today the EUR/RON will
drop further testing the 3.5900 support.
MONEY MARKET
The Central Bank did not organize any depo auction last week, however it seems that the excess liquidity of
the money market has been reduced slightly as the short term yields increased. The interest rates for the
overnight deposits remained at 1.3-2%, same as they were at the end of the previous week.
