FOREX MARKET
On Thursday, the euro climbed as high as 1.2174, however the EUR/USD eased lower overnight. The players
on the international forex market expect the US Q3 GDP and the University of Michigan Confidence number
to be released today, which could turn into a pretty risky trading session. Most probable the US figures will be
under the expectations of the analysts, so in that case we could see a rally to the 1.2350 area, if 1.2200 falls.
On October 27th, the trading volumes increased substantially on local forex market and the European currency
gained more than 100 pips. In the early trade, the buying orders prevailed and took the pair until 3.6200, the
most. At this level, the sellers made their appearance on the market, so the EUR/RON fell near 3.6150 level.
On Friday, the EUR/RON was quoted at 3.6140 in the early trade, however soon the euro climbed until
3.6290. By noon, the exchange rate has stabilized around 3.6250 and we expect that the pair will reach 3.6200
by the end of the trading day.
MONEY MARKET
The excess liquidity on the Romanian money market is increasing, the more so as the Central Bank didn't
organize any depo auction since the beginning of October. However, the interest rates for the ON deposits
maintained in the 0.8-1.5% area.
