FOREX MARKET
In the last trading sessions, the dollar enforced against the euro on the forex international market. The only
scenario that we can build around the strengthening of USD is that the market has been too quick in pricing
in a slowing or stopping of the FOMC hiking regime after the latest meeting and change of the FOMC
statement. US economic data has also been reasonably strong and stock markets have continued higher. The
EUR/USD ranged in the 1.1830-1.1880 area until noon and it is likely that no major event will occur during
todayẸs trading session.
On Friday, the EUR recovered some of its gains vs. the RON as the exchange rate climbed until 3.6700,
however it couldnẸt maintain this level too long as the selling orders made their appearance. The local trading
session is pretty calm on December 27th, as some of the players are still celebrating the Christmas. The
market opened at 3.6590 level and remained in the same area until noon, with low variations around this
level.
MONEY MARKET
On Tuesday, the overnight interest rates stayed in the 3-6% area, as it seems that the players lost interest for
the Romanian money market. The NBR did not organize lately any kind of auction.
