FOREX MARKET
As we forecasted, the EUR/USD slipped downwards until 1.2050 level, however the dollar couldn't find
enough support to break this level and moved a bit higher in the 1.2070 area on the European session. There is
still room for further appreciation of the dollar, as we expect to see the EUR/USD in the 1.2000 area later on.
We set the resistance level at 1.2120 in case of upside movement of the pair.
On Monday, the Romanian currency appreciated against the EUR as the quotes fell from 3.6830 to 3.6580
towards the closing of the forex trading session. The RON continued to firm up vs. the euro today, also as the
exchange rate shrunk to 3.6430 until noon and it seems that the pair is heading the 3.6000 level in the coming
days. The movement might have been determined by speculative funds which are entering Romania for
investing in equities, as most of the stocks listed on BSE are growing steeply.
MONEY MARKET
The overnight interest rates stay in the 5.5-7.5% area today, following an upside trend, as the domestic
currency surplus has diminished lately on the interbank market. This move has been determined by the fact
that the population lost interest for placing their money at the banks and found other ways of using their
surpluses.
