FOREX MARKET
The Although opening Friday higher with a 100 pips gap, the Ron couldn't hold its gains versus the Euro. The pair opened at
3.5130, as compared with the 3.5230 previous close. In the opening minutes the Euro had been sold to a minimum of 3.5090.
Afterwards, the Euro has been bought to 3.5260 and retreated at the end of the day at 3.5170.
Today the EUR/RON opened at 3.5250 with buyers taking advantage of the late selling on Friday, which brought the pair to
attractive levels. The day high is 3.5270 for now. After a brief fall to 3.5180, the Euro stabilized around the opening level and
is now bided at 3.5240.
The EUR/USD had a more volatile session on Friday. In European trading the pair was stable between 1.2780 and 1.2830, with
players waiting for the US Non-Farm Payrolls and Unemployment figures. The data showed a big downside surprise for the
Payrolls, with far fewer than expected jobs created in the US economy. As a consequence, the Euro surged from 1.2830 to
1.2939 in just under one hour. Today the pair has stabilized in the 1.2920-1.2940 range. The resistances at 1.2970 and 1.3000
are next, but a retracement might be needed for further action upwards.
MONEY MARKET
O/N interest rates on the interbank market have increased slightly to an average of 8.25/9% from 8/8.75% on Friday. Deposits
are offered occasionally at 8.6 the lowest and one of the reasons we have for the higher bids is the NBR depo auction which is
expected today.
